The Big idea

Founder of BIGSHOW and creator of Harmony, Vonette Carter is a passionate communicator with a heart for directing and connecting people. With 30 years in entertainment and the arts, she has seen how powerful performances uplift, unite and inspire - and has dedicated her career to that mission.

Vonette's journey has been shaped by work in Hollywood, Christian ministry, and education, including roles at ABC-TV, PolyGram Records, University of Southern California , Saddleback Church|Purpose Driven, Cru, Boys & Girls Clubs, and Orange County schools. As an educator, nonprofit founder, and foster youth mentor, Vonette is especially driven to empower the next generation. 

Guided by her faith in Christ. Vonette thrives on bringing creative visions to life that encourage all ages to discover their purpose and use their unique gifts for good and for God.

For years, performing arts teacher and director Vonette would begin each season the same way: with prayer. She asked God to inspire a new Big Show that would speak directly to the needs of her students and her community.

In 2014, the answer was Harmony.

The eighth annual Big Show staged in Orange County, California, Harmony addressed the growing division Vonette saw around her.  Displaying the wonder of creation and God's powerful plan for our lives, the show encouraged guests to discover purpose and peace - in our relationships, our communities, and our world.

Over 200 student performers brought the vision to life in a spectacular Cirque du Soleil meetsThe Lion King fashion. Audiences young and old left the breathtaking and transformative production inspired to pursue understanding, forgiveness and healing in our divided world.  That night, an influential guest said: “This could be on Broadway.”

Now, ten years later, the moment has come. A talented and passionate team is joining forces to bring Harmony back to the stage—this time as a professional touring production.
